VOLUNTEER SPORTS NETWORK
WHO ARE WE?
OUR STORY
Volunteer Sports Network was created years ago by a group of people who wanted to bring live play-by-play coverage for Falcon Football and Basketball. In 2023, Frank Sorah and Josh Sawyer took over the Network creating it as the Hub for ALL things Falcon Athletics. We do our best to bring coverage to all Falcon Sports whether it be live radio broadcast or through social media coverage. In the next few years we hope to be able to continue to bring more coverage including live-streaming games, and being able to work with students at the school to provide them knowledge of various sports media and network coverage.
We happily coordinate with the Athletic Director Jeremy Bailey, and the rest of Volunteer High School including the coaches, administration, and teachers, but we are not directly affiliated with the school and are a separate entity. All work done by the staff of Volunteer Sports Network is volunteer work done with the help of our Sponsors.

Radio Hosts, Frank and Josh met in 3rd Grade at Surgoinsville Elementary and have been friends ever since. They both have always been sports enthusiasts, not stopping at football but taking an interest in various sports. As year one radio hosts they are navigating the hobby together and hope to one day be able to make covering all Falcon Athletics a full-time job. They have a passion for bringing coverage to the school and being involved with not only the school but the community as well.
Frank Sorah is a 2016 graduate of Volunteer High School. He grew up playing football starting with Rec League and then moving onto the field at Surgoinsville Middle. He played Football all four years at Volunteer as Tight End, Defensive End, Punter, and Right Tackle. He now lives in Church Hill with his wife, Cassidy, their daughter AJ, and their two dogs. He currently holds a full-time position at Eastman Chemical Company as an Operations Specialist. In his free time, he enjoys watching his favorite college and professional teams (Tennessee Volunteers, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Vegas Golden Knights) and spending time with his family.
He has always wanted to get involved in sports media and decided to take the chance when the opening came up for new hosts for Volunteer Sports Network. When asked why he decided to start his media career with Volunteer Sports Network he said, “To continue to support the student-athletes and teams of Volunteer. To use our knowledge of the game to provide the fans and community with a platform to listen to their favorite teams.”

Josh Sawyer is a 2016 graduate of Volunteer High School. He grew up playing football starting with Rec League then moving onto the field at Surgoinsville Middle. He played football all four years at Volunteer as Quarterback, Wide Receiver, and Defensive End. He now lives in Surgoinsville with his wife, Hannah, along with their 5 cats and 4 dogs. He currently holds a full-time position at Ballad Health working as Armed Security. In his free time he enjoys watching his favorite college and professional teams play (Tennessee Vols, Miami Dolphins, and the Texas Rangers) and spending time with his family.

He never anticipated getting into sports media, but when the opportunity came up, he decided it would be worth a shot. When asked what led to the decision to begin hosting for Volunteer Sports Network he said, “I wanted to give back and continue to publicize my Alma Mater and give exposure to the student-athletes. The community spent so many years supporting us and cheering us on so this felt like a way we could give back to them.”
Hannah Sawyer is not a graduate of Volunteer High School, but she became involved with the community in 2019 after meeting her now husband, Josh, and moving to the area from Grainger County, TN. She has been involved and played in various sports but consistently played softball up until high school. She currently lives in Surgoinsville with her husband, Josh, and their 4 dogs and 5 cats. She is a Special Education Paraprofessional at Volunteer High School. During her free time, she enjoys watching Tennessee Volunteers Athletics and the Miami Dolphins, along with spending time with her family and reading a good book.

She has never really thought about getting involved in sports media, but once she began helping she found a new love for the preparation, organizing, and social aspects of the Network. When asked why she decided to start at Volunteer Sports Network she said, “I love the idea of providing more coverage to the kids who work hard being a student-athlete while getting to expose other students to what goes into various aspects of Sports Media. I enjoy being behind the scenes creating the website, making new images, meeting the students and coaches, and having an excuse to make fun posts that the community hopefully enjoys.”
